Deana Baker
Most of the work I make starts off as my clients’ unworn sentimental precious metal jewellery. Whether it is a family piece passed down to them or an old wedding ring, it is jewellery they aren't willing to part with, yet isn't being enjoyed in its current state. My skills lie in understanding my client and what type of piece they would love. I then start the process of designing and re-imagining their sentimental pieces into something they love to wear within my signature design style.
My working process uses traditional goldsmithing techniques. Melting down gold and silver in ingots and reshaping the metal is an extremely satisfying process.
I make my work in my home garden studio, which gives me plenty of space to work. Visitors will be able to see all the tools I use to make my work including my jeweller's bench as well as a selection of my work on display, these pieces often act as inspiration for client commissions.
