Lamorna Waddell - ceramicist and painter
I love structure, form and texture. Architecture and architectural detail inspire my practice. Within my sketches, drawings and paintings I experiment with non-conventional media to create a ground from which my architectural forms appear.
I mainly work in porcelain to create my ceramic vessels due to its plasticity, strength and purity. My work is all hand built with applied texture and detail inspired by lace and lingerie fastenings. I've just started to work with black porcelain and am excited to see the results.
Lamorna completed a ceramics degree in Cardiff and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She has been working as an art teacher since 1990, and is currently Head of Art and Assistant Head Teacher at a secondary school in Newbury.
She believes passionately in being an Artist Teacher and that through developing her own art, she is able to inspire her students.
Lamorna will be exhibiting alongside her husband, Chris, a photographer.
