Helen Savin
My work is contemporary and abstract. When making art, I feel a sense of freedom and autonomy. It is how I can respond to my experience of the moment and world around me through line, form, and texture.
I work intuitively, creating layers of paint and texture and various other marks. I then make more focused compositional choices as the piece progresses.
I also enjoy making collage papers using my gel plate, then assembling pieces on wood panel or making collaged book covers for my handstitched sketchbooks.
This year I will be showing finished pieces from the 100-day project where I have been exploring expressive mark-making.
