Bishopstone Pottery

This pottery studio is in a pretty cottage garden in the village of Bishopstone. Here Sue and Adrian Dent indulge their passion for clay and fire, producing brightly coloured slip decorated earthenware and naked raku ceramics. The vibrant slip decorated pots reflect the potters’ interests in geometric and natural forms. The naked raku pots have designs etched through a masking layer producing black and white designs when taken from a red-hot kiln. Each pot they make is unique!

Their work was displayed at the Manchester Art Gallery as part of Grayson Perry’s Art Club. It was thrilling for Sue and Adrian to have their work exhibited alongside works by Grayson, Antony Gormley and Maggi Hambling.
